Hello, my name is

Full Stack Developer

About me

Technological jack of all trades with a love for TV series. I value honesty, humbleness & working hard. Building stuff is almost as much fun as is breaking and fixing it.

Skills

I can help you or your development team with my broad knowledge of current web technologies and tools. I'm a fast learner and adapt easily to new environments. Work remotely? I like that. Need me on location? I'm sure we'll figure something out. But there's more than just technical expertise.

Quality

The Right Way™ to do things is what I'm looking for. I strive for consistency, clarity and idiomatic use of any language.

Passion

I really enjoy what I'm doing and I have the firm belief that you can only do things well if you love doing them.

Design Eye

While I might not have the skills to craft a design myself, I have been working with designers long enough to know one thing — they love attention to detail.

User Focus

In the end it's people using the products I'm building and I'm never too tired to point out when something seems overly complicated.

Speed

You're short on time but need results, preferably yesterday? We all know it's not pretty, but sometimes you have to take shortcuts.

Expertise

I'm always trying hard to keep up with all the new stuff. As if that's not enough, I strive for a healthy dose of fresh input, be it in the form of a new programming language, framework or design pattern. I like to think of myself as a fast learner and I love learning!

Me, Myself and I

Full Stack Web & Indie Mac Developer

In 2004 I started building websites for fun. What started out as a means to promote personal projects or businesses of friends and family slowly grew to the skillset that it is today.

Regarding the Mac development I can't share much with you at this point. I can tell you I'm working on a nifty little tool for the web development community. If you're into Grunt and a little adventurous, drop me a line and I'll notify you when there's a beta available.

from 2013 to 2014

Tapunit GmbH

Developer

Next to a sprinkle of Objective-C development and a portfolio website I have been responsible for the implementation of a web service based on the MEAN (MongoDB, Express, Angular, NodeJS) stack. I've also helped them setup their infrastructure around deployment and management of web based products.

from 2011 to 2013

Pixellent GmbH

Lead Developer

My role at Pixellent has shifted over time - when I joined the team in their Hamburg based office, I was accountable for translating our designer's PSDs to CSS and HTML. As the opportunity to expand my responsibilities arose I took my chances and now I'm in charge of estimating costs, meeting with clients and supervising all technical aspects of the projects.

I take great pride in the workflow we developed, introducing Git and advocating best practices, as well as educating clients about the the web and current trends.

from 2011 to 2012

Institute for Multimedia and Interactive Systems

Research Assistant

My main responsibility at the IMIS was to administer, maintain and extend the Drupal installation used to operate the institute's website.

Education

from 2009 to 2013

Universität zu Lübeck

Lübeck

Bachelor of Science Computer Science

After doing web development for some time, I wanted to take it to the next level and understand the underpinnings of the web, programming and the digital domain in general. As a result I started studying computer science.

In my bachelor thesis I developed a regression testing tool for web based applications. It allows you to closely monitor any changes made to a given set of URLs, making accidental breaking changes to a layout nearly impossible.

What I enjoyed learning:

  • Algorithms and Data Structures
  • Software Ergonomics & Technology
  • Databases & Nonstandard Database Systems
  • Interaction Design
  • Media Production & Media Programming
from 2006 to 2008

School of Audio Engineering

Hamburg

SAE Diploma

Being in a student band that was mildly successful, I dreamt about having a professional career in the music industry. It turned out I enjoyed the technical aspects of this education the most.
